Testing: Notification of
Parents
- At
the first Learning Record meeting, the ES will review required testing
dates with their families. (Note: All
10th graders must take the first CAHSEE test administration for
their grade level. The second administration is only for true emergencies
and late enrollees). The ES will ask if there are any issues with testing
in a church building. If there are, they will note this in the student’s
testing layout in FRED by clicking the button marked “will not test in church
building”.
- Two
weeks prior to testing, the Assessment Dept. will mail letters to the
students including their test site information. The consequence for not
attending will be communicated, once again, in this letter. At that time,
an email will be sent via the ES listserve asking
ESs to check for receipt of the letters and to
make sure there are no issues with transportation. The
ES is ultimately responsible for notifying the parents of test dates and
requirements. The ES will note any issues with transportation
in the student’s testing layout in FRED by clicking the button marked “transportation
need”.
- The
day before testing, the ES will speak with their students the day before
each day of CAHSEE testing and the day before the first day
of their STAR testing session to remind them to attend, and to assess individual
situations. (ie.: If a student is not going to
attend, ask why and make sure they understand the consequences incurred
if they do not have a compelling reason involving illness; sudden, verified
transportation issues; unforeseen family emergencies, etc.). The ES will
note their responses in the comments field in FRED next to the date of testing
and then type in their initials next to the comments.
- During
each day of testing, the Assessment Dept. will mark attendance in FRED
by early afternoon. Each ES will check their own students’ attendance and
will call any who did not make it to testing that day . The ES will note in the comments box why the student
didn’t attend. If there is a discrepancy regarding attendance, the ES will
email cwcstestclerk@connectingwaters who
will then check with the coordinators and mark the attendance appropriately.
- After
each day or session of testing, the Assessment Dept. will provide the
student attendance data to the Executive Director.
