PLIP must state that the material the parent is choosing to use covers all of the standards for that subject, something like:

  • Her parent and I have completed the Language Arts Checklist and are assured that all of the California State Standards are being addressed. The student is using Buckledown test prep.
  • Student is using standards based curriculum and parent is using Standards checklist to ensure standards are met.  For Test prep student will use Study Island.
  • Student is using curriculum that is not state aligned, however parent will use supplemental curriculum and Standards checklist to ensure standards are met.  For Test Prep student will use Study Island.

Strategies: How this will be accomplished

 

Goals & Strategies (mixed together – that’s fine):

To improve student will work towards the following

1) Increase reading comprehension by using a highlighter when reading to highlight important points in reading for review. 

2) Increase written & oral conventions by using Study Island to completed extra exercises in this area.

 

Reading Level (if Basic Course): For those reading 5th grade and below.

Reading Level must be stated on the LR.

 

New Learning: It is fine to list the pages covered for the learning period (or chapters, units, etc.), only if the content is covered by the State Standards; otherwise, they need to list the content.

 

Methods/Activities: Reading the textbook, discussion with class or parent, investigating, experimenting, writing, response to literature, vocabulary exercises, watching informational programming and DVDs, practicing skills on computer programs, making educational trips, illustrating, demonstrating, etc.  

 

Means of Assessment: End of sections review, end of chapter review, quizzes, tests, projects, discussion with tutor or parent, mid-terms, finals (note: can be included in Methods/Activities if the activity is a means of assessment).

 

CAHSEE PLIP: Use for Math & / Or English.

Life Skills and Special Interests:

Should have something new each time.

** PE: Student established a fitness program made up of pushups, jumping jacks, sit-ups, and body squats.  Student's base levels and goals are as follows: PU - 5/10, JJ - 18/30, SU - 5/10, BS - 14/30.

LR could include progress in a fitness regimen (“Increased number of sit- ups from 100 to 150”), a change in goals (“Now working on upper body strength”), the achievement toward a goal (“Lost 20 pounds”), new activities, etc. NOT: He ran every day.

           

** Career Exploration: Documentation could include new skills learned, increased responsibilities, promotions received, challenges encountered ("Learning to deal with difficult customers"), etc.

 

** Music Inst 1A: The student learned two new songs on the guitar and harmonized with other band members. He performed in front of a large crowd and had two smaller performances where he led singing. NOT: He plays the guitar in the worship band at his church and practices one hour a week.


 

Technology Plan: SAMPLE:

The student completed the FBI-SOS Technology Assignment during this LP as part of the technology training. Concepts included:

- Define important terms associated with online safety

- Recognize and identify the "red flags" that indicate that they may be chatting with an online predator

-Describe at least three ways to protect their privacy when online

-Identify ways to decrease risks associated with social networking sites and chat rooms

-Recognize and report illegal online behaviors and become familiar with CyberTipline, a mechanism for reporting online crimes

 

The student also learned about information literacy, copyright and the appropriate and ethical use of information technology using various web sites and textbooks from the local library.

 

NOTE: Only include Technology Plan in the month that activities were performed to complete requirements of this plan. This documentation should only be listed under the “Life Skills” tab on the LR.
