Non-Sectarian Only

The ES is the responsible party for determining that an item to be purchased by the school is non-sectarian and can be purchased with state funds. The ES must be careful with all catalogs, but most especially those that have specific notes about them when the PO is made. If an inappropriate item is purchased “accidentally”, it must not be given to the student, but the ES must e-mail vendorrelations@ieminc.org to make arrangements for its return to the vendor ASAP. Items with specific instruction of doctrine or application of religious text are never permitted. Ask your ES Advisor if in doubt. Any item that an ES is not familiar with should be quickly checked out prior to submitting it on a PO. Use book sites on the internet, or go to the vendor website to see a description of what the item is. The ES is the accountable party for the items they order for their students.  This is a very serious issue for the school and ESs willfully attempting to circumvent this policy are subject to immediate termination.
