Instructional Funds Policy

Each student, by his/her attendance, generates funds that this Charter School has appropriated for education purposes for the enrolled student's usage. The IF (instructional funding) may only be spent on appropriate educational materials for the enrolled student.

The funds may be spent on educational materials, Contract Program Activities, Group Educational Activities, and AESS for the enrolled student. With parent permission, a small percentage of funds may be used for rent on a building in each geographic area which will be used as a site for contract program activities, or purposes designated as necessary for the area, as long as it does not conflict with charter school educational codes.

The funding can NOT be used for items designated in the Policy for Criteria of Materials or activities/product/instructors disallowed in the Conflict of Interest policy. It also can not be spent on any item or activity that requires payment for transportation. We do not pay for transportation, as our school receives no transportation funding. For our students, all learning occurs at home, and anything the parent/student choses to do outside of their home needs to be within the realm of what transportation they can and want to arrange/provide. It also cannot be spend on any materials/admissions for anyone not enrolled in the school (siblings/parents/etc).

The amount of funding that is put in each ES's budget is based on the calendar that the school receives ADA from the state. This amount differs depending on the student's enrollment date. The ES can view the amount that can be expected by looking in the FRED under "view" IF chart. The ES should check this chart before spending any funding as the dates for calculating amounts are different from the school calendar dates. No school funding is provided directly to parents or students for any purpose. Any unspent funds will not roll over to the next school year. If a student is transfered to a different ES, items purchased with the instructional funds follow the student.

If a student drops mid-year, the remaining unused funds are returned to the general school budget following this Drop Student IF process.
