REVISED 10/2008

Professional Growth for ESes

Professional Growth Hours Clarification:

The responsibility to monitor compliance of teacher’s professional growth has been taken from the CCTC by SB1209 and given to the local school/district of your employment. You no longer have to supply any professional growth information to CCTC at all, as they are no longer the monitoring agency for your professional growth.  We will track your professional growth hours accumulated through your ES meetings and ES trainings, and award certificates as a means to meet our school responsibility.

Policy

ESs will need to complete 28 hours of professional growth for CWCS this school year.  Attendance to all required ES meetings and trainings should meet this requirement. Some training meetings are required for all ESs; some are choice sessions. Your ES Advisor is your professional growth advisor and can answer your questions. Specific in-services, WASC required meetings, and/or other professional training may be required during the school year. Additionally, an individual Professional growth assignment may be given to an ES by their ES Advisor when deemed appropriate and necessary. ESes who do not attend and complete these required trainings without cause may be subject to Disciplinary Action.

ES Responsibilities for Professional Growth:

The ES develops their specific PG goals, chooses activities within those goals, and then reports activities on their goals using the school database—ES F.R.E.D./ES Detail Goal page. The ES Advisors have the opportunity to examine and approve their assigned ESes’ goals in F.R.E.D. The ES is responsible to communicate at least twice a year with their ES Advisor on their professional growth goals and plan. The goals are included as a part of the yearly ES Evaluation.

Required Meetings:

·         All ES Meetings: August: 6 hours / February (2 days) 12 hours

·         Local ES Group Meetings led by your AF: 2 hours each for 8 meetings = 16 total hours

Attendance is expected at all required ES meetings.  Hours are automatically tracked from the sign-in sheet you sign at the meeting.

Professional Growth Certificates:

Professional Growth certificates will be tracked by the school and a certificated is available for each ES to print that will include their hours at the end of each school year. After the next school year starts in the database, the prior year’s certificate will no longer be available.
