Dear Potential Business Vendor;

I am the Educational Specialist (ES) that works with a family that is interested in using your services. Thank you so much for your potential interest in working with us. Please let me take a few minutes to explain to you the Vendor Set-Up Process.

Connecting Waters is a public charter school that allows students to work in an Independent Study program. Our parent company is IEM, Inc. (Innovative Educational Management, INC).  IEM takes care of most of our administrative paperwork and handling of funds. They are 4 schools strong in CA.  http://www.ieminc.org/

Each year, Connecting Waters receives state funding for each student, like any public school, but in our school, we allow parents with the ES’s approval to use some of this funding to pay for educational activities. If you are willing to work with us, we would have our Vendor Relations office send you a small packet to complete. This would tell our office who you are (basic demographic information), as state auditors are very particular about how we spend our money. They need to verify that you are non-sectarian, that you have qualified staff, and that you carry the appropriate insurance to cover your own liability. We have hundreds of vendors that work with us, including Fremont Swim School and the City of Pleasanton, San Ramon, and Walnut Creek. For certain activities such as swimming lessons or horseback riding lessons, you will be asked to name Connecting Waters & IEM as additional insured on your GL policy. Here is a link to a list of the vendors who work with us: CWCS Vendors

In a nutshell, if you become an approved business vendor, we would pay for the services rendered directly out of the public funds (we cannot reimburse parents). We use the Purchase Order process with a ‘net 30’ day policy. After you receive our school PO, you begin giving lessons. The PO is our schools agreement to pay you. Then, within 30 days of receiving your invoice that references that PO #, we will send you a check. We will only pay against the PO number. There will be a more complete explanation in the packet you receive from Vendor Relations.

There are benefits to joining us as a vendor, including more exposure to the home school community in your area. Once you’ve become an approved business vendor with us, any one of our 1,700 students may choose to use your services!
