"GETTING STARTED"

Steps to help new parents get started.
1. Give them the links to these handouts and ask them to read the two articles to discover their personal philosophy of education and teaching style.

2. Direct them to the Curriculum Home Page and show them the Educational Approaches.
3. Direct them to the Curriculum Home Page. Ask them to read the website links in the section entitled, "Learning Styles" to discover how their child learns best. Inform them of the school's FREE learning styles assessment for students in grades 3-12.
4. Direct them to the Parent Resources sections entitled, "Choosing the Right Curriculum", and "Curriculum Ordering",
5. Direct them to the Curriculum Home Page. Tell them to begin looking at curriculum vendors on the "School Approved Vendor List", and to begin requesting their favorite vendors' catalogue.
6. Print out and give them a copy of the handout, "Curriculum Ideas for Newly Enrolled Students".
7. Direct them to the Curriculum Home Page. While waiting for their curriculum to arrive, have them explore and use the many resources in the free educational website links and the
Educational Activities Ideas link.
