Educational Activity IDEAS

The charter school views the world as a classroom and recognizes that educational activities may provide valuable learning opportunities. Educational Activities may require preplanning or occur as unplanned learning opportunities, sometimes referred to as "teachable moments". An everyday experience for one student may be totally new learning experience to another. Even everyday experiences may be enriched by a guided tour, in-depth research, or by sharing the experience with visitors from out of one's local area.

Particular educational activities are not necessarily appropriate for every student. Safety issues, age-appropriateness, group size, interests, abilities, etc. need to be considered. Some Educational Activities may require prior permission &/or pre-arrangements, are only available during particular hours or days, etc.

Guest speakers, reading materials, videos, and materials can be used to enhance the learning experience. Various teacher resources are sometimes available from the educational destination.

"Virtual field trips" are available on the internet. By conducting a search using such terms as "virtual field trip", "museum", etc. one can find "virtual field trips" that might be of interest. Some examples include (these links are not sponsored or endorsed by this charter school):

Please be aware that school-supported Educational Activities require pre-approval and correct completion of all forms. Educational Activity expenses will not be reimbursed. The approval process requires several weeks so make sure to plan ahead. For further information on Educational Activities, ask your ES and /or check out any information provided at the school website.
