SPECIAL NOTES: Teacher’s Edition is critical to the success of this program. It is where the teaching lesson is located and each lesson has five parts to the teaching plan: Activating prior knowledge, Introducing the lesson, Guided Practice, Informal Assessment, and Independent Practice. Included in each lesson, are strategies for English-Language Development and Intervention. Student Workbook is to be used as the last part of the lesson: Independent Practice. This workbook should not be used without first teaching the lesson from the Teacher’s Edition. Also included in the TE are: Practice Books (K-1) for reading Literature Connection (K-3) references an appropriate book to accompany each lesson. These are books, important to the program, which the parent can check out at the local library or find elsewhere. There is an activity in the Teacher’s Edition that accompanies each literature selection. ASSESSMENT (K-3): The program includes a pretest before each unit and an assessment following each unit.
