Teacher PLIP steps for students not passing algebra 1

 

1)      Assess students to determine possible reasons for failing, eg. Lack of pre-skills, lack of motivation or work habits

Possible assessment tools include: 

STAR  test results

ED performance

Mathematics Diagnostic Testing Project (MDTP) – Algebra Readiness test

 

2)      If pre-skills are lacking, choose from the following options for remediation:

 

Private tutoring

On-line course: ALEKS, LarsonMath

 

Additional Support:

HiMAP coaching at CSUS

Drop-in coaching at the learning centers (If applicable)

 

      3)  Use Edusoft to create benchmark assessments for mastery of standards (If applicable)

 

4)       Enroll in a basic algebra course (AGS or Globe Fearon Pathways), or take the course over 2 years, or enroll in an Algebra 1 course offered by the school.

 

Teacher PLIP steps for students not passing the math portion of the CAHSEE

 

Choose at least one from the following required options:

 

1)      Enroll in CAHSEE workshops, offered at the Learning Center (if applicable)

 

2)      Sign up for weekly one-on-one tutoring from the approved CWCS CAHSEE Tutor List

 

3)      Enroll  in an online course from the approved CWCS CAHSEE Online Course List with ES monitoring progress: 

 

4)      Complete printed study materials.  Booklets available from:

www.cgpstudy.com or other school approved materials.

Free materials from the CDE (available at the learning centers)

 

And take the practice exam available through www.cgpstudy.com

 

Unexcused missed tutoring sessions or class sessions are considered a missed school appointment.

**If a student has met all other graduation requirements and just needs to pass the CAHSEE, they must be completing a minimum of 10 credits of CAHSEE prep in the subject area(s) of need.
