Connecting Waters Charter School ELA Personalized Learning Improvement
Plan
Purpose:
To determine PLIP needed for the struggling reader/writer
Step 1
Assess using the Ed Performance Language Arts Assessment and assess using CGP Study Assessment for 9-12. ES will administer the assessment to the student.
RATIONALE:
The purpose of the ES giving the Ed Performance Language Arts Assessment is so that the ES knows exactly what area the student needs a PLIP in. Areas will be in Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, High Frequency Words, Spelling Strategies, Reading Level/Comprehension, and Writing Strategies.
The purpose of the ES giving the CGP Study assessment for 9-12 is so that the ES knows exactly what area of English Language Arts the student needs intervention in preparation of the CAHSEE. If a student has met all other graduation requirements and just needs to pass the CAHSEE, they must be completing a minimum of 10 credits of CAHSEE prep in the subject area(s) of need.
Step 2
The ES and the parent will analyze assessment data and determine areas of strengths and areas of weakness.
RATIONALE:
The purpose of having the parent involved with the data analysis is so that the parent also has first hand information on the student’s strengths and areas of weaknesses. This will also provide a better understanding of the need for the PLIP.
Step 3
The ES and the parent will choose the curriculum needed to provide a solid PLIP curriculum/program.
CURRICULUM LIST:
GRAMMAR:
SPELLING:
COMPREHENSION:
WRITING:
The curriculum list is just a recommendation of some material that can be used for the PLIP.
The ES and the parent can contact the curriculum or ELA specialist for more curriculum information for a specific PLIP needed.
