Technologically Skilled Individuals who:

-Demonstrate competence in the use of a computer.
-Demonstrate competence with basic software programs and other appropriate technological equipment.

 

Practical ideas and suggestion to meet this goal:

-Computer Class at Manteca site in January to cover Microsoft programs, using new computer lab.

-ROP- CISCO networking and other classes available

-Manteca and Ceres Sites have computer labs for student use.

-Student creates projects on computer: flyers, spreadsheets, type work assignments.

-CTAP binder at Manteca Site has computer modules to copy for students.

-word processing (typing various reports)

-internet research, email, PowerPoint, instant messenger, Photoshop

-do Google search on just about any topic and it’ll have helpful links

-Seniors - Have all seniors complete a working resume before graduation. Available in word program on computer, or books for helpful hints.

- Internet “Scavenger Hunt”

-ROP course thru Stanislaus County for A-1 Certificate for repairing computers.  Year-long course with test at the end that gives student certificate for employment.  Starting jobs are $50 per hour.

 -Using the computer to communicate

- Instant Messaging

- Communicate teachers/students via email

- Great website www.gcflearnfree.com which offers FREE classes for any age online to learn several different computer programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point, etc. There are enough lessons for a high school student to receive 5 credits for computer education.

-Professor Teaches Office Super Set - Office Depot and Pathways /Interactive training on Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

-My Scrapbook 2 - Office Depot/ Allows scrap bookers to customize a variety of themed scrapbook pages, add photos, clip art, and journaling, and then print out complete pages. Use the easy-to-use photo editing tools to improve your favorite pictures

-MOUS - Microsoft Office User Specialist - available thru Glencoe

Year-long HS course that goes through the main software used in offices.  Students take a test at a Microsoft office to get a certificate that is fabulous for getting an entry level position in an office

- "For Dummies" series is good for Junior high/high school students.  Available through Borders.

- Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 is a programming course available through Borders.

 -Teacher Created Materials has many unit studies on helping elementary age children learn to use the computer, Internet projects, etc.  See their catalog.

-Oak Meadow curriculum 4th and up utilizes many websites for research in their core areas. They also offer an online curriculum.
