Contract Programs Instructor/Policy Checklist
All instructors must meet the
educational standards and be approved by the Education Specialist prior to
instruction. Instructors must work with
the Education Specialist to establish qualifications and
define appropriate course Goals and Objectives and select state
standards the course will meet.
CP
Instructors will receive an employment packet in the mail from CP which
requires:

Completion
of the school application
·
Medical
clearance for TB
·
Department
of Justice clearance
Upon completion of these
requirements, the CP instructor will receive a copy of the Contract Programs
Contract and the Rollsheet/Timesheet for their class.
Contract
·
The
contract should be reviewed, signed and returned to the CP
department. No changes may be made to the CP
contract. If you feel the number of classes or the per student per session rate
is incorrect, contact the ES responsible for the CP class
Contact the Contract Programs
department for questions on terms and conditions of the contract.

Upon
receipt of the signed contract, the CP department will contact the CP instructor
and authorize the class to begin via phone or email. No class is to begin
without prior authorization from CP.
Rollsheets/Timesheets
·
You
will receive a Rollsheet/Timesheet with the CP class number and the students
enrolled at the time of the contract. No further Rollsheets/Timesheets will be sent. You will need to make copies to submit for
future payments.
·
Rollsheet/Timesheets
must have the students name listed:
Student’s name will either be printed on the initial
Rollsheet/Timesheet or Instructor must print the students name on the
Rollsheet/Timesheet. The first time a student not listed on the original
Rollsheet/Timesheet name is entered on the Rollsheet/Timesheet a corresponding
CP Course Enrollment Approval Form (provided by the ES or Student) be attached to
the Rollsheet/Timesheet upon submitting for payment.

Date
of class is listed at the top with either one of the following next to the
students name:

for present
-
o
for absent
-
D
for drop date ES’s will notify instructor of any students who have dropped the
course (once a student has dropped no further charges may be submitted for the
student).

The
total number of student sessions represents the number of students enrolled in
the class for the period of the Rollsheet/Timesheet. This can be derived by adding up all the x’s
and o’s.
Billing
reimbursement for material or facilities costs listed on Contract:
Original receipts must be
attached to the Receipt Submission Form.
A classified instructor must have original
receipts to be reimbursed.
Submission form mailed in with the monthly
course time/roll sheet.
The amount being invoiced
must meet the terms of the signed Contract. Only materials listed on contract will be reimbursed.
Important Notes:
No student may attend a CP class without
the ES Course Enrollment Approval Form.
Student’s first attendance date must align
with the date on the Course Enrollment Approval Form. No student should be
marked attending class prior to this date.
Each CP class has its own unique CP number.
Only students enrolled in the CP course may be listed
on the Rollsheet/Timesheet.
Teaching classes in excess of the number of
classes on the contract may result in discipline which
could include future classes not being approved.
Instructors may not have concurrent classes
listed on contract.
The charter school personnel are employed on an at-will basis. Employment at-will may be terminated or disciplined with or without cause and with or
without advance notice at anytime by the employee or the school.
Submitting Rollsheet/Timesheet
Rollsheet/Timesheet must
be turned in on a monthly basis, 10 days prior to the last day of the
month. (Please refer to the calendar of due dates.)
Instructor Responsibilities:
Instructors are responsible for their
students from the time they are dropped off for the
class until picked up by the parent, guardian or their designee. An instructor may drop a student from their
course if the student is not picked up promptly by a parent, guardian or their
designee (Consult with Education
Specialist for assistance)
Instructors MUST reschedule or cancel any
course sessions that are scheduled in conflict with school
required assessment testing in the same geographic location. All missed
sessions may be rescheduled with the students.
Books and non-consumable supplies are the
property of the school and remain property of the school. Instructors have the responsibility
of returning these items to the ES setting up the CP class.
No sectarian instruction is
allowed.
Instructor
Qualifications
Instructor must have appropriate knowledge
for the course in which he/she is giving instruction.
To evaluate knowledge in relation to
instructor qualifications and appropriate pay scale, the Education Specialist
will use any one or a combination the following areas:

Credential
in subject being taught
·
Teaching
experience in subject being taught
·
Post
high school experience in subject being taught
·
Professional
experience in subject being taught
·
Work
experience in subject being taught
·
Volunteer
experience in subject being taught
·
Training
in the subject being taught
Instructors teaching K-8 academic courses are expected to have a level of education or background
skills in the subject higher than those they are instructing.
High School academic course instructors are expected to have successfully completed a California
Credential or competed a BA/BS degree in the subject area or have experience in
the subject being taught.
Qualities necessary to successfully teach
course work to students:

Communication
skills
·
Age
appropriate student management skills
·
Experience,
education or training in the subject in which they are instructing
