FRED Navigation Tips

 

 

Navigation and Settings

TOP BAR

     File: Open Recent - gets you back to your Menu (Data1) screen

          File Options - spell check settings

          Print Set Up -  set printer default and paper orientation

 

     Edit: Copy and paste highlighted text

               Preferences / General tab – Allow drag and drop text; Enlarge window contents     

 

     View: Toolbars - Standard and Text Formatting

           Zoom In/Out

 

     Format: Font, Size, Style, Alignment, Spacing, Color

 

     Records: Sort Records (RC, LR)

 

     Window: Navigate between open windows (numbered list at bottom)

 

BOTTOM BAR

     Open and closing sidebar - click small rectangle next to word, “Browse”

     Adjust screen size  

     Browse/Find

 

SIDE BAR (note, the sidebar is now at the top of the page in FRED.)

     Rolodex – click from record to record, one at a time

     Slider – move through several records at once

     Browse (pencil) Find (magnifying glass)

 

To Format text (Highlight text, right click and scroll to style, underline, bold, short cuts ~OR~ Ctrl, Shift and U=underline; Ctrl, shift and  B=Bold, Ctrl, Shift and I= italicize, ~Also~ Ctrl c = copy, Ctrl v =paste)

 

Printing to PDF

 

     1) Download free PDF Printer (Primo, Bullzip, PDFCreator, etc.)

     2) Change default in File: Print Setup:

                Make sure that “Current Record” is visible in “Print” dropdown field

     Select PDF printer from Printer “Name” dropdown field

     3) Save to desktop or other file. 

 

Once saved, you can attach a RS, RC, LR, SA pg. 1, transcript, Scantron test result, etc., to an email and further economize on paper and ink!
