Filemaker Dictionary
Definition
The
FileMaker (FRED) Dictionary can learn new words! This helps when spell checking
learning records or other items that have unusual word that the spell checker
wants to correct but you know are actually right as they are. If you teach
FileMaker Dictionary the word, you won’t be bothered by that correction prompt
again.
How
to learn new words during spell check:
1.
To
start spell check, go to the Edit Menu and select Spelling > Check Record
(or Selection or Word)
2.
If
the dialog appears to correct a word, you can click the ‘Learn’ button if it is
a word you want the spell checker to know.
How
to learn new words anytime:
1.
Go
to the Edit Menu and select Spelling > Edit User Dictionary
2.
Under
‘Entry’ type the word and click ‘Add’
A
word about Citrix and the FRED Dictionary:
The
FileMaker User Dictionary is unique per each Citrix user and Citrix server.
This school uses 4 separate Citrix servers, and you may log in on any of the 4
machines that has an open user space. Therefore, each ES will have 4 separate
unique user dictionaries. Each user must add their own words individually (over
and above those already in the User Dictionary), to each of the 4 machines, you
will not be able to take advantage of words other people have entered into
their User Dictionaries, and you will have to add a word on each of the four
Citrix machines. This will seem tedious at first, but will be worth it for
words you commonly use that are not in the FRED Dictionary.
