Individualized HQT Access/Portfolio Review Q & A
(updated 10/2011)

1. What is a portfolio review?

Specific samples are collected by the ES and sent to HQT for review and final grading of course. This is good for students who are not a good fit for the Elluminate classes.

2. Where is the information located for the specific HQTs?

At the link for CWCS HQT Courses for the specific year and scroll down to the very bottom of the page.

For 2011/2012 courses go to:

http://www.connectingwaters.org/hqt/2012/index.htm

3. What is required from ES?

The ES is responsible for assessing daily assignments at the Learning Record meetings.

The ES is ultimately responsible, not the parent,  for getting the requested graded samples to the HQT by the specific deadlines.

4. What is an acceptable sample?

Graded quizzes, tests, lab reports, chapter reviews are all good samples. Lists or just answers, with no work shown or content supplied, are not acceptable.

5. What should the ES do if your student has not completed any work in this course by the end of the semester?

Ideally, the ES should be in contact with the HQT and let them know that the student is making very little progress in this subject and that they will be cancelling the CP. The ES should then follow the ES Manual procedure from withdrawing their student from the CP so that the IFs are re-deposited.

6. What happens when the ES is late with the deadlines?

In order for the HQT to review and get the grades finalized on time, they need the ESes to try to follow their timeline of deadlines. Depending on the HQT, late work might be accepted; however the student’s grade may be jeopardized. Remember emailing and scanning are much faster than snail mail!

7. How long does the ES have to correct their HQT errors in FRED once they receive the email stating that corrections are needed?

72 hours
