Minimum Requirements for a-g HQT Oversight

 

1)    Class Requirements:

The HQT must be on the HQT CWCS employee or approved vendor list

HQT Vendors must respond to student’s inquiries about school work and assignments within 24 hrs.

 

All a-g students will be required to take a proctored final exam or a significant final project. However, one final must be proctored.

 

A minimum of one hour per week must be direct instruction with tutor and/or parent

2)    Curriculum: 

Verify the student textbooks needed on the CWCS a-g list

3)    Syllabus/Pacing Guide:

The syllabus/pacing guide can be created by a parent, but it must be approved by the HQT. It should explain course requirements and include weekly assignments.

Assignments must meet grade level CA state standards. Those can be found on the following links:

4)    Attendance:

Access: Meet with the student at least 5 times during the semester (online) to discuss requirements, answer student questions, and teach key content standards

 

Portfolio Review: Meet with student online 2 times during the semester to discuss requirements, answer student questions, and teach key content standards

 

5)    Portfolio:

Collect and grade at least 5 samples of student work.  The work should include chapter tests, other assessments, or projects.

 

6)    Assessment:

The HQT will develop and grade a final at year-end. The first semester a project will be assigned as a final.

 

7)    Grading:

Give a quarterly progress report and a semester grade to the student’s ES based on attendance, portfolio work, and final exam (for the semester grade). Grades should be submitted to ES by the last day of each semester (December and May)

Suggested distribution- 25% from ES/parent Progress Report (daily work), 25% Attendance (required meetings), 25% Portfolio, and 25% Assessment
