Moodle and Elluminate: Your high school student must have access to a HQT in the areas of English, Math, Social Science, Science, Foreign Language, and Visual&Performing Arts. The CWCS HQT Moodle/Elluminate courses are one option. ESes enroll their students in these courses in FRED. The students that you have signed up in FRED are expected to attend each of the classes. In order for a student to be part of a CWCS HQT Moodle/Elluminate course the student must log onto Moodle and attend the Elluminate online Sessions. The Moodle course will have a direct link to the Elluminate course.  It is your job to make sure that your student has all the information needed to succeed. The ES must inform the student about the truancy policy found in the HQT overview.

In order for your students to have success for the department courses you must:

  1. Sign up your students in FRED in the desired course
  2. The description and syllabi for the courses can be found in the ES Manual under HQT Courses. (The password for the courses is in FRED on the ES detail view/passwords tab.)  If the student is signed up they need to log onto Moodle immediately. The student is required (and parents are strongly encouraged) to attend a Parent/Moodle training before the start of their course. Moodle will have the link for the student to get into Elluminate. They should go onto Moodle at least weekly to check if their teacher has left them a message.
  3. Order a microphone/headset for your student (required)
  4. Make sure that your student knows that attendance to the Elluminate sessions are required and if they can not attend a session that they need to notify the instructor within 24 hours of the class. Also make sure that you tell your students to log into Elluminate 30 minutes before the class begins. It may take dial up systems this long to load Java
  5. Progress Reports (created in FRED) must be used by the ES to show student progress on work completed at home. These reports are created in FRED quarterly each student enrolled in a CWCS Online Course.

Headsets can be ordered from any vendor such as Office Depot or DC Computer in Modesto.
