Important Information for Seniors – Class of 2008:

ü      Apply for CSU and UC online between October 1 and November 30.

ü      Contact independent colleges and occupational career schools for admission materials and financial aid application procedures.

ü      Most colleges want the SAT or ACT (with writing) by December:

ü      Financial Aid Information…  The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and is the application used for all types of federal financial aid – for junior colleges, trade schools, colleges and universities!  All graduating students planning to attend a junior college, trade school, private college, or university should apply.  File between January 1 and March 2, 2008 at www.fafsa.gov .  For state aid, request a GPA Verification Form from the CWCS guidance office and file between January 1 and March 2, 2008. 

ü      Encourage your Seniors to attend College Night for high school students at your local community college:

Ø      San Joaquin/Delta College – October 22nd 5:30 pm

Ø      MJC – October 23rd 5:30 pm

PLAN (pre-ACT) test for 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th graders!!!!

Why take the PLAN? It’s great preparation for the ACT – it covers the same subjects!  It gives an estimated ACT score!  It helps you know what high school courses you should be taking!  It helps you identify careers that match your interests!  (You can find more information about the PLAN test at www.act.org)
