Math Curriculum

Since this is a math adoption year, there is a lot of new material out there.  In general, if you liked the older editions, you’ll probably like the new ones as well, along with improvements and more technological components.

Saxon has some changes that are worth noting. See Curriculum News for more info.

Teaching TextbooksTeaching Textbooks can be supplemented with ALEKS (all grades) and HQT Access (for PreAlgebra and above) to provide a comprehensive program.  A-g credit is not available for this curriculum.

HQT Access

We’re working out the rough spots with HQT Access.  For students who will not be taking online HQT classes next year, we want to provide effective HQT Access.  This was a new program this year, and we have all had to work out the bugs.  Next year, we hope to have requirements and expectations in place at the beginning of the year.  We hope that this option will be seen as a favorable way for students to continue their math studies at home, with accountability to a credentialed math teacher, whom they can also go to ask questions.  This will include monthly communication with the HQT, either through email or a live online meeting.  Consider this option for students working independently or with a non-credentialed tutor for PreAlgebra through PreCalculus.
