My favorite for STAR is the Buckle Down series by Buckle Down Publishing. They have prep workbooks for English-Language Arts, Math, Science, and History, as well as CAHSEE. http://www.buckledown.com/california.htm

• Test Tools is a new vendor that offers online and a CD version of CAHSEE Prep.

The CAHSEE Tutor Software was designed to help all students prepare for the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE) at their own individual pace. This standards assessment and test preparation software will help students master 100% of the California Content Standards that are tested on the Mathematics and English-Language Arts CAHSEE. The CAHSEE Tutor also contains a comprehensive lesson plan for 53 California Mathematics Standards and 26 California English-Language Arts Standards.

TestTools, Inc. recommends a five-step approach to properly prepare students for the California High School Exit Examination:

1. Orientation - Understand the format of the CAHSEE. The software reviews everything students need to know about the format of the CAHSEE including the type of questions, California Content Standards, passing scores, and how to prepare for the CAHSEE.

2. PreTest - Identify individual strengths and weaknesses. The software will produce a diagnostic report based upon California Standards to display students’ scores as an overall score, strand score, and individual standard scores.

3. Review - Learn about the California Content Standards. The software has a detailed individual lesson plan for every Mathematics and English-Language Arts Standard that is tested on the CAHSEE. In addition, there are test-taking tips to help students master all of the subject material outlined in the blueprints for the CAHSEE.

4. Assessment - Practice individual standards. The software allows focused individual standard testing for 100% of the California Content Standards tested on the CAHSEE.

5. PostTest - The software has several complete Mathematics and English-Language Arts exams with detailed explanations and diagnostic reports.
