CWCS 9th
Dear CWCS Parent,
In June we sent out an invitation for your student to
participate in our new 9th grade Academic Core class that will be held this

The 9th grade Academic Core class will meet at the
Students have been selected to participate in this class based on last year’s low STAR test scores in both English and Math. It is our belief that with direct instruction in grade level language arts standards and additional practice in algebra prerequisite skills, that students can and will meet grade level proficiency. A key purpose of the Academic Core class is to help prepare students to pass the CAHSEE in 10th grade. Passing the CAHSEE is now a requirement for receiving a high school diploma, and so it is essential for all students to be able to meet grade level expectations.
The academic core will have a maximum of 15 students; this will provide a wonderful classroom experience as well as allow students to have one-on-one time with Mrs. Vernier. Students will be enrolled on a first come-first served basis until the maximum is met, and then a waiting list will be formed. Students who enroll in the course will be expected to attend all classes, and make a full year commitment.
