CAHSEE:

Parents of tenth and eleventh grade students will be receiving a letter of notification next week regarding the CAHSEE requirements and administration dates, times, and test site location for their student.

The CAHSEE Census Administration for all 10th grade students is Feb 8th (ELA) and 9th(Math). All 10th graders must test as our API score is affected. Eleventh grade students may also attend this administration or the Make-up administration on May 10th(ELA) and 11th(math) along with those tenth grade students who truly were unable to attend the Feb. Census Administration.

The percentage of 10th graders that participate and their subsequent scores are a big factor in receiving an API score for our school.

Study guides for the Math and ELA will be available at the Manteca and Modesto Learning Centers, Waterford Office, and through the Area Facilitators early next week. The State only allocated enough funds for study guides to accommodate tenth grade students.   The study guides and teacher guides are also available online at the following link:http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/hs/resources.asp

We do have some leftover study guides from last year available at the Learning Centers and Waterford Office.

STAR:

A confirmation letter is being mailed directly to parents of students in grades 2-11 during the first week of January. This letter will explain the importance of participation and will include the students specific test site location, dates, and times. It will  require a signature confirming that the students will be participating in testing as well as an area to write down issues that will keep them from testing and availability to be a parent volunteer. The parent is to give their ES the filled out letter during the January Learning Record meeting. The ES will then enter the data into a place in the webfiles stating that the parent will or will not participate in testing and also any issues prohibiting them from testing and if they can volunteer. The assessment dept will then gather that information and go to work on resolving those issues. We will notify you via email when the letters are mailed out and when the data entry layout in the ES webfiles is operational.

We will be offering the Modesto and Manteca Learning Centers as alternative testing sites for those students with religious beliefs that prohibit them from entering other church buildings. The Stockton and Bay area test sites are also available as they are not held in church buildings. We are still in the midst of organizing this, dates will be posted asap.

Guidelines on Academic Preparation for State Assessments will be emailed to you next week so we can know how to appropriately assist our students in their academic growth.

Thank you very much.
