Checklist for Graduation Requirements for UC/CSU University Prep

 

_____1. Complete “Graduation Requirements Agreement” form in 9th grade or upon enrollment.

  

_____2. Review “Suggested Schedules for High School Completion” at http://www.sscs.cc/Guidance/TypHSplan/HSSampleSch.pdf using the last column called UC/CSU University Prep for up to date info on UC/CSU college admission for reference.

 

_____3. Go to http://www.ieminc.org/handbook/highschool/Courseinfo/agcoursetitle.htm to find out what a-g courses are offered for IEM schools.

 

_____4. Make sure that student begins all proper a-g courses and other required graduation courses beginning their freshman year.

 

_____5. Begin “College/University Prep Endorsement” form and keep on file.

 

_____6. Have a copy of “Graduation Requirements Menu” to know what regular graduation requirements are in addition to the a-g subject requirements.

 

_____7. Get a copy of “A-G Subjects by Examination” off the web under Guidance/Graduation Requirements to be aware of course choices needed, as well as, test scores required.

 

_____8. *Make a selection of university or universities of interest and contact their admissions department to find out what additional courses are required for admission.

 

_____9. *Sign up for PSAT Examination your sophomore year of college on line at http://www.collegeboard.com/testing/.

 

____10. Recommend that student signs up for AP Testing at http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/ap/reg.html prior to March 15th if they are interested in taking any exams and check the site for AP Exam rules.

 

____11.  Recommend that student signs up for SAT Testing at http://www.collegeboard.com/testing/  at the beginning of their junior year of high school to allow plenty of time for test results prior to applying for admission.

 

­­____12. *Student should obtain their high school GPA (to fill out their “Verification Form GPA”) from the high school counselor their senior year so that they will be able to fill out a “FAFSA” no later than March 2nd.

 

____13. *Complete the “FAFSA” (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) prior to March 2nd dependent upon what the admissions department recommends from the particular university your senior year of high school.

 

____14. *Apply to the university of your choice after completing all the necessary admissions info as early as spring of junior year or beginning of senior year to have the best chance possible for consideration with the UC/CSU schools.

 

____15. Apply for graduation.
