Summary :   Responsible for training and mentoring all assigned Educational Specialists.  Provide leadership and coaching in all aspects of the ES job.  Assists the ES Support Department Manager with handbook/video production as needed. Assist the Director of ES Support with ES discipline issues. Process, review, advise and store various ES paperwork as assigned.                                                    

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities : include the following.

1.        Instructs and coaches Educational Specialists in the application of current school policies and procedures.

 

2.       Provides process training and educational advise to ESs on attendance rollsheets, high school graduation issues, student course content, assigning appropriate Carnegie units, portfolios, report cards, learning records, curriculum selection, ordering and receiving, educational philosophies, contract programs appropriateness and processes, and basic IT support for database and e-mail.

 

3.       Administers New ES initial training, then contacts new Educational Specialist a minimum of twice a month until they are meeting performance standards.

 

4.       Oversees monthly ES group meetings, responding promptly to questions from ESs.

 

5.       Attends monthly ES Advisor training meetings.

 

6.       Meets individually with Educational Specialists to reinforce training concepts as needed by email, telephone, or in person.

 

7.       Maintains records of parent complaints, resolving conflicts between parent/Education Specialist/student under the direction of the Director of ES Support.

 

8.       Observes and formally evaluates the performance of their assigned new ESs twice in the first year, and continuing Educational Specialists yearly.  Documents ongoing performance and behavioral issues, and provides information to the Director of ES Support for ES student count recommendations.

 

9.       With the Education Specialist, develops a professional growth plan and serves as their Professional Growth Advisor. 

 

10.    Assists ES Support Division in development of training videos for new Education Specialists and for review with current Education Specialists.

 

11.     Collects and monitors Charter Summaries, First Meeting Info Sheets, Transfer Checklists, and Graduation Requirement Agreements to ensure accuracy and completeness.

 

12.    Mediates, processes, and then monitors Student Transfers.

 

13.    Advises and processes ES Transcript change requests and mediates transcript issues involving current ESs.

 

14.    Collects, assesses, and processes Graduation Packet Paperwork, approving graduation of qualified candidates.

 

15.    Completes year end checkout of each assigned Education Specialist, ensuring accuracy and completeness of records.

 

16.    Completes required paperwork in a timely manner.

 

 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities :      

Directly supervises 1 to 30 assigned Education Specialists as a confidential employee. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Must hold a current teaching credential.

 

Education and/or Experience :                                              

Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must have performed successfully as an Educational Specialist, with a positive ES Evaluation on file.

 

Language Skills :                                            

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and research reports.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Mathematical Skills :                                                 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability :                                                    

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills :                                           

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of database software, spreadsheet software and word processing software.
