Mathematics Curriculum Alignment
The California Content Standards
(December 1997) were used to develop curriculum alignment for California. All grade level standards and
course standards were used except the Mathematical Analysis course. The referencing
of the content standards follows closely with the numbering of the document. In
a reference of 2NS.1.1, the 2 indicates the grade level, NS indicates the
strand (Number Sense), and 1.1 indicates the skill number. The skills from the California High School
Exit Exam are also referenced using (HSEE) after the corresponding content
standard.

Language Arts Curriculum Alignment
The English-Language Arts Content Standards for California Public Schools
(1997) document was used to develop curriculum alignment for California. Grades one through eight for the
Writing and Written and Oral English Language Conventions strands of the
Language Arts Content Standards were used in the matching process. There were
also minimal matches within the Reading
strand and no matches to the Listening and Speaking strand. The referencing of
the content standards follows closely with the numbering of the document. In a
reference of 1W1.3, the 1 indicates the grade level, W indicates the strand (W
for Writing, WOL for Written and Oral English Language Conventions, and R for Reading), and 1.3
indicates the standard.

Reading Curriculum Alignment
The English-Language Arts Content Standards for California Public Schools
(1997) document was used to develop reading curriculum alignment for California. Skills from
the Reading
strand for grades two through twelve of the Content Standards were used in the
matching process. The referencing of the skills follows closely with the
numbering in the document. In a reference of 2R.1.7, 2 indicates the grade
level, R indicates the strand (R for Reading),
and 1.7 indicates the standard.
