Section 6: Supplemental
Information: Choosing Target Instruction for Students Working Below Grade Level
***When creating study guides and tests for Suggested Learning
Objectives under Section 5 above, the targeted instruction is not linked to the
grade levels at which the student is performing. It only offers instruction at
or near grade level in which the student is enrolled. If a student is working two
or more grade levels below his current grade, the instruction choices are too
high. In these cases, the following would be
indicated:***
1) Print
the suggested objectives generated by the directions in Section 5 or save them
as a PDF file and then convert them to a Word Document.
2) Close current efforts and return to Welcome page
3) Choose Skills Connection Online
4) Choose Create a Paper-Based Test
5) Next to Template, click the box and a
drop down list will appear; choose CA
Content Standards. Click OK.
6) Next to Area, select a subject from the drop down list.
7)
Next to Grade, choose the grade level of
the standards you need. This would
be the student’s learning level, not his or her actual grade level. Click Next.
8)
Select skill areas in which your
student needs remediation by reading the skill
descriptions and matching them to the objectives you printed out in Section
5.
Follow
instructions from Section 5, #’s 3 through 8 to finish.
Section 7: Viewing Yearly
Gains for Your Students

Scantron.

(one of the tabs at the top).

5. The numbers
of interest to you will be those listed under SS (Scaled Score) Difference. A positive scaled score, or gain, is desirable, of
course. A drop in the score may indicate
a problem with the testing situation, a change in the student’s attitude toward
testing, a gap in the student’s learning or a delay in his or her academic
progress as a whole.
6. To print this information you can select
the “X” to export it into an Excel format or, if you have Primo, or another PDF
creation tool, you can “print to file”.
