Houghton Mifflin Leveled
Houghton
Mifflin's Leveled Reading Passages Assessment Kit offers materials you need to
assess and evaluate students' reading levels, as well as their reading skills
and use of strategies.
The
Leveled Reading Passages are individually administered and scored. The passages
are specifically designed for diagnostic and assessment purposes and the
results will provide you with in depth information about each students reading abilities and instructional reading
level. The Leveled Reading Passages
Assessment Kit helps you evaluate students' phonics and decoding skills,
reading fluency, reading accuracy, reading comprehension skills, reading rate,
and use of reading strategies.
The
Five Step Procedure:
1.
The student reads the Word Lists to help you determine which passage to begin
with.
2.
You introduce the reading passage and build background if necessary.
3.
The student reads the Leveled Reading Passage and the teacher records the oral
reading accuracy, oral and silent reading times and fluency rates.
4.
The student retells the story and you evaluate the retelling.
5.
The student answers comprehension questions and you score the responses.
Repeat
steps 2-5 for each Level Reading Passage you administer.
