CAHSEE Intensive Options

updated 01/09/12

All 10th and 12th grade CAHSEE Intensive students, and all 11th grade students who have not yet passed the CAHSEE must sign up for eKnowledge and take the Diagnostic Tests (online or paper/pencil) by assigned due dates.  After taking the test, students are to print their “Personal Prescriptive Path” which will list the standards and Early Level Measuring Up lessons that they need to work on.  It will also provide a projected proficiency level based on the student’s total score.  Students who do not have online access can take a paper- pencil test. The ES will log on as the student after the student has completed the paper version and enter the student’s answers. The ES will then print (or PDF) a copy of the Personal Prescriptive Path to provide to the student and tutor. To request a copy of the paper test and answer document, email the school office. A PDF copy will be emailed to the ES. ES should have the students write on only the 2-page answer document to recycle the test for use with other students.

All 10th and 12th grade Intensive students, (those with internet access and those without), and all 11th grade students who have not yet passed the CAHSEE, must be enrolled in eKnowledge via GEA courses in the fall. All students will then receive the Early Level Measuring Up Student Workbook and either eKnowledge online access or hard-copy Diagnostic Tests.  By ordering in bulk, we are saving money, and ES will not have to order individual student textbooks.

In December, all 10th grade CAHSEE students must take the Diagnostic Test 2.  If a student scores proficient on this test, they will not have to enroll in an approved CAHSEE Intensive class or tutor for the spring semester.  Students who do not take the Diagnostic Tests, or who do not score proficient, will have to enroll in an approved CAHSEE Intensive class or tutoring (see below) for the spring semester. 10th grade students who score proficient on DPT 1 (in September) must still take DPT2.  Attendance will be tracked and monitored during the spring semester. Spring CAHSEE Intensive students will take Diagnostic Test 3 prior CAHSEE as final practice test.  Growth between Diagnostic tests will also be measured.

Attendance tracking will not take place during the fall semester for 10th grade, but is mandatory for all 12th grade Intensive Students.  Although it is not required that 10th grade Intensive students enroll in a CAHSEE Intensive course or receive weekly tutoring during the fall, it is highly recommended that they use available resources to help them prepare for passing the exam. Spring attendance will be mandatory for 10th graders who do not pass the DPT2 with proficiency and 12th graders who do not pass the November CAHSEE.
