CWCS
CAHSEE Intensive Guidelines
Updated 12/21/11
- Each
tutor should have a copy of Measuring Up to the
California Content Standards Teacher’s Edition by People’s Education
(Early Level) so that they can correct student work. Other CWCS
approved test prep materials can be used as well. This can be ordered or
provided by the student’s Education Specialist.
- Each
tutor should print a copy of the CAHSEE Blue prints and Released Test
Questions for both ELA and Math and be familiar with what standards are most
heavily tested.

- Students
should receive at least 1 hour of tutoring per week, per subject
- Weekly
attendance MUST be sent in EVERY Friday by the tutor – this is
essential! Students who miss 2 sessions (unexcused) can be dropped
from CWCS… it is crucial that attendance is accurate.
- If
students are continuously late or call to reschedule, please note this on
the attendance sheet and let their ES know.
- After
CAHSEE exams, analysis of data will be performed by CWCS (tutor used,
pass/fail, points gained, number of sessions, and # of absences).
- All
CAHSEE Intensive students must complete the Measuring Up eKnowledge
Diagnostic Test; this will serve as their pretest and will provide an
individual “prescriptive path” based on their test
results. Once completed, students must print their results and
bring them to their tutor for review. The results print-out
will include the standards the student needs to work on and provide the
Measuring Up lessons that the student will need to
complete. The “Prescriptive Path” should be used by the tutor
to guide their student’s instruction and tutoring time. (Students will
also take a midyear and final Diagnostic Test to measure
growth) Please see the Measuring Up eKnowledge directions below
for student directions.
- 12th grade
students should also provide their tutor with their previous CAHSEE
results at their first meeting.
