STAR Test Results
Parent Info
Each student’s test results must
be reported to parents within 20 working days after the school receives them. The
hard copy results will be mailed directly to the parent/student.
The results are also entered into a database program, and
hard copies are stored in the Assessment Dept. files. Results will also be put
into the student’s cumulative files unless parent requests not to, as indicated
in the student agreement.
Individual student results are confidential and will only be
seen by the parents/guardians, students, and their ES.
Parents/guardians, students, and
the ES use individual STAR results to help monitor each student's academic
progress. The test results are used as one tool to help make decisions
regarding individual curriculum choices appropriate for your student.
Individual student results are
merged into aggregate grade-level reports by subject area for each school,
district, county, and the state. California Standards and CAT/6 test results
are used to calculate the Academic Performance Index(
API) for each school. The API, a major component of the state's accountability
program, is used to rank the academic performance of schools, set targets for
growth, and monitor progress over time.
